Puerto Mogan

Puerto Mogan is a picturesque fishing port and not very well known. This port area is dedicated to tourism but in a very different way than the other resorts such as Playa del Ingles and Maspalomas. The waterfront area is a purpose built holiday resort and has hotels / apartments not higher than two to three floors, the area was also expanded into a traffic-free village which has very colourful houses which have been designed in a Mediterranean style.

These houses in the village have narrow alleys of which all of them have been lined with small garden areas and window boxes planted with flowers.

Puerto Mogan also has a net of pretty sea water channels from which this port also holds its title of 'little Venice'. This area has promenades and small bridges making a stroll around this port very pleasant.

The yacht marina with its many restaurants, stylish cafes, restaurants, jazz and piano bars surround the local fishing boats which are still in operation. At night the harbour is the perfect place for an evening walk and a romantic sunset dinner.

Puerto de Mogan is also nice for a day out more so on a Friday morning when market takes over the fishermen's quay. At the east end of the port you will find a small and very well protected sandy beach which is a good place if you have children with you.

Harbour at Puerto Mogan

Other attractions in the harbour are a yellow submarine offering trips underwater, small replicas of old sailing ships taking tourists to the popular beaches of Puerto Rico and Maspalomas and of course deep sea fishing boats offering you the chance of catching world record size tunas or marlins. Puerto Mogan is the place for the very well known Blue Marlin angling competition which is held in July every year!
